Week 4- Cambodia (Koh Rong) Day 5
So I'm currently sat in the middle of the beautiful clear sea writing this blog. Not to make you lot jealous at home or anything. Today we have been on a boat day trip to Koh Rong Samloem. The scenery has left us speechless it is stunning! The boat was pretty big but not many of us on it which was quite nice.
When we boarded me and Gemma headed straight up to the top deck where there were sun loungers. A man came along with sweet bread for breakfast.. Let's just say we are literally living the life right now. The boat departed from Sihanoukville and set off into the sea. After about 45minutes it stopped and we had time to snorkel, dive in and enjoy the free buffet lunch. We were both straight in the sea as we were sizzling! We borrowed snorkelling equipment and swam over the corals. These were beautiful, there was also so many different colourful fish. Snorkelling is one of my favourite things to do abroad and it made me so excited at the thought of scuba diving soon!
I also became really brave and decided to jump off the top deck into the sea, it was a pretty large boat! This was so scary but I just went for it without giving myself a chance to think about it. God knows how I'm going to do a skydive in Australia.
The food was really yummy, I have a small obsession with steamed vegetables at the moment they are SO good over here so I have had lots of that. We also enjoyed fresh fruit afterwards, Gemma tried dragon fruit- it's white and spotty. The boat finally docked at Koh Rong at about 12.30, we were then given 3 hours to do as we pleased. The beach was like something I had never seen before. The sand is white and the water is crystal clear. Me and Gemma were straight in the sea floating about once we got off the boat. We have also been chilling in swinging basket chairs from the trees. So basically we are currently in heaven! It has definitely been worth the 25 dollars we paid.
It was only on the way back we realised that we were burnt (particularly me) so we sat inside the boat on our way back! We walked back to our hostel from the dock and had showers to freshen up before going out for dinner. Once I got out the shower I looked like a complete lobster, especially my back! So I became good friends with Mr after sun! We walked down to the beach and decided to go back to the same restaurant as the first night because the BBQ was so good, however, I had it again and was a bit disappointed. Gemma had Yom Tom which she really enjoyed and was very filling! We were really tired from our day so headed back to the hostel quite early.
