Right....firstly i would like to point out that the photo of me and the girls with no tops on was NOT supposed to be uploaded!! I uploaded it by accident and it wasnt until Katie pointed it out that i realised....glad people enjoyed it though while it lasted because ive removed it :-)
Anyway...after a slight embarrassment i can carry on...although a bird did poop on my arm the other day which was almost as embarrassing..its supposed to be lucky though so i might charge peope to touch my arm haha!
Well i think the last time i wrote on this was when we had just come back from our sailing trip. We came back into Airlie beach in the afternoon and then went for a meal and a few drinks at a place called Beaches. That was quite fun to let our hair down a bit (like we hadnt done that enough already on the boat!) but that closed at 12 so a few of us went back to the hotle to prepare for our 6.30am start. A few people stayed out until 2.30 but it sounded like they had an ace time and the DJ in the other club was awesome apparently. A few of us walked back to the hotel via the harbour to take some nice pics of it all lit up. Katie had a broken flip flop though, and all the street lights kept flickering so we must have looked like a pair of zombies shuffling out of the bushes in the half dark!
After Airlie beach we got back on Bob and made our very long (10 hour!) journey to Undara. As always we had a few toilet and snack stops at random towns with bakeries and pie shops! We reached Undara in the evening and once we dumped our things in the very small tents, we met up at reception and went on a sunset safari. Basically we were out for 2 hours and saw kangaroos etc on the way out, watched the sunset on the rocks with champagne and cheese and bics, then drove back in the dark bia the lava tubes to see bats-was really nice! After dinner (which was a roast!...yummy!) we went down to the campfire and watched a bloke read out some poetry. It was an expereince but needless to say, after a couple of poems we made ourselves scarce! In the morning a few of the group went down to the lava tubes again, and the rest of us went on a bush walk with Nifty. He told us all about the various trees etc and animals, and we walked miles! We saw some really great views and got quite close to some kangaroos. I took a couple of videos but im not sure how to upload them-will give them a go though!
After the walk we all got back on Bob to leave Undara. We stopped in one place which had a random train track in it-the train looked like Thomas so me and the tour leader went down to take a few pics. While we were down there an old man appeared and started telling us all about the train and how it works, we even went into the front and were looking at all the wood burners etc..was actually quite cool. It was really funny though, becuase another little man appeared as well...you can imagine the type cant you..one of the men was about 75 and had no teeth, and the other was about 4 foot tall and had boss eyes. On the way back to the coach the tour leader turned to me and said 'Did you see that guys eyes?? One of them was going to the shop, and the other was coming back with the change!'...I havent laughed that much in a long time!
Once we got back on the bus we carried on to Cairns along a really windy (as in lots of twists and turns!) road down the mountains. The views were really nice but a few people felt a bit sick after that! That was our l;ast journey in Bob which was quite sad, as the next couple of days are just finishing off in Cairns. Some of us were quite glad to get off Bob though, as the toilet in there had started to smell a bit rank!
We went for dinner at a bar and grill place and then went to check out the night market. That was quite cool, not what i expected though. I sort of exzpected an open air market with funny random things on iot, but in reality it was just like a random little shopping centre indoors. It had a few cool stalls though.
Today we woke up at a leisurely time and had breakfast and came straight on the internet. The othert group members (most of them) have gone on a boat trip to the Barrier Reef today, but i diodnt see the point in going on that, as i have booked a 5 day diving course next week, so just relaxing and expolring today. Tonight i think we are going to watch some sort of aboriginal dancing and having a big feast as its our last night of the tour. Tomorrow i think we are going to a Koala sanctuary which will be good, then we all have to leave each other which will be very sad! :-( Lots more to look forward to though.
Thanks again for everyone who writes on my message board, i really do like to read them and see what you think of my travels and what gossip there is from home! Oh and by the way...we just missed the sand storm on the East Coast. As we were leaving Brisbane we saw a bit sand cloud coming, but the day after that we were on Fraser Island (not on the mainland) and as we turned on the news we saw that half the cities were covered in sand clouds! We seem to be leaving a trail of destruction recently..a couple of the girls on this tour were in Samoa last month and now theyve had a tsunami...hope all this bad luck doesnt catch up with us! When we returned to the main land there were a lot of clouds still, as you can probably see from a lot of my photos, but we are all fine-didnt get caught in it!
Hope you enjoy the pics i put up..im fully clothed in these i promise :-) xxxx
