We spent the first part of the day driving into the pantanal, the Brazilian wetlands. It's rainy season but quite tropical in that it will rain very hard for a few minutes then stop.
The costa verse looked like jungle with rolling hills covered in trees, here there is a lot of farming and green flatlands, so if you took away the palm trees you could almost think you were in the English countryside.
After a bumpy ride in the truck over, we arrived. It's so humid you can't believe, and there are bugs everywhere, but it's beautiful. There are so many birds and all you can hear is them and the goats. We took a walk to the river to see the alligators, which turned out to be fake - we were not impressed as the mosquitoes were literally swarming over us. Think we've discovered we're definitely city people! But it's worth it to see so many animals (although let's see how many bites I wake up with first actually)!
UPDATE: No, the alligators are caimans, and they were REAL. They just don't move much when they're sunbathing as we discovered the next day! It was a horrifying discovery after we'd walked so close the day before...
Spent the rest of the day wondering around and chilling out.
