Decided to extend our 1 night stay in Wellington to 3 nights in search of some R&R to help us over our flus. Sparkling wine made an unwelcome return enticing us to crash another buses private party and drink all their free Jagermeister. Frolicked home screeching a medley of select irish folk tunes and attempting unsuccessfully to swing around lamp posts, before skulking home to nurse our battle wounds.. Spent the next day in a dark room with Dr. Phil and Buddy the elf for company, vowing never to drink again....that night, unphased by our 7am start the next day, celebrated Charlene's birthday in style with a host of Irish Westlife groupies, dancing manically to an array of 90's classics. After a mere hours sleep had the worst bus journey ever....FACT!
A one night stop in Napier before heading onwards to Rotorua, the smelliest place in New Zealand. Embarked on a Maori cultural experience which was easily one of the best nights in New Zealand, highly recommended, especially for the young hot maori men in grass skirts. Even witnessed a real life haka.
Next morning we went to Waitapu thermal wonderland where we saw a geezer set off a geyser and other wondrous steamy sights. Left for Mount Manganui, a quick stop before our final destination of Auckland. En route stopped at Waitomo where Vicky and Charlene indulged in some black water rafting in the glowworm caves, while Clare and Deirdre took the warmer, drier option of an underground boat ride. Finally made it to our luxurious apartment in Auckland, complete with our very own bathroom, kitchen and tv, such a novelty!
Pam-ell-a the sexy ford focus diced with danger on the windy roads of New Zealand on a trip to the Bay of Islands, which was indeed a bay, full of islands.
Discovered where the delightful Wendy has been taking refuge all these years...her square burgers are the talk of the town. Spent our last few days in NZ chillaxing in apartment and maing the most of our final few days with our beloved Deirdre, even finding time for some arts and crafts, constructing the macdaddy of birthday cards. After a tearful farewell at the airport we are currently in the tropical paradise of Fiji, concocting get-rich-quick scams to fund the fund the rest of our trip. Maybe see you all sooner than expected....
