Sunday has arrived and everything has gone exceedingly well. During my morning prayer time it occurred to me that today may be the last day I see some of my British friends. David Winstanley will be appointed to a new church near Bath, UK and will no longer serve in Nottingham. I know we will see our friends on Facebook but I need to make sure I give them a goodbye hug. Breakfast was very special as some of the youth came and sat with me for breakfast. I though our session Saturday afternoon with the youth went exceedingly well. It was comforting to me because one of my biggest struggles with losing my mobility is it is harder physically to work with youth but , it is still as spiritually rewarding. (and the youth are a bunch of Cheeky Monkeys).
Breakfast was very good (again) and worship and testimony was immediately afterwards. We had a very good time of testimony - David had to limit the ministers as to the time they spoke. (It was Sunday morning and they are used to doing a sermon - it in their nature) Kaupo spoke and it is very good to hear someone who has such a passion for God. His passion is increased by the fact that he lived in Communist Russian and knows what it is like to be persecuted for his religious beliefs.
I think David had a message prepared but the testimony time took much longer than anticipated and lunch was at a set time and he wanted us to have the opportunity for a time of prayer before we went to lunch. Prayer time was a blessing as always and I did pray for someone and they were blessed by the prayer.
Emma and I have reflected on the fact that everything we have experienced with Aldersgate was because of a brochure Aldersgate sent the church in 1999 and a few of us became interested in Aldersgate. Then our minister did a pulpit exchange with David Winstanley and David was curious about these Aldersgate events that excited us so. That led to Aldersgate sending a team for two weekend events in the UK in 2009 (I think). The UK churches were blessed by the Aldersgate events and wanted to start doing events themselves. Lynn and I came to the UK to lead and train friends from the UK. So what started as a brochure 18 years ago has blossomed into the first Aldersgate UK conference. Our prayer is that they will continue to grow and we can come celebrate their 40th Aldersgate UK event!!!
After lunch we finished packing for a trip to Crewe to spend the night with friends. When we arrived in Crewe we shuffled people around and found a home for everyone in our entourage. Each group had dinner with their guest host and we were staying at David Watson's house with our son Matt and Frank and Peggy Billman from Nashville, TN. We had a picky tea for dinner and we enjoyed our conversations. We talked late into the evening and then went to bed as we had a busy day on Monday with plans to fly to Dublin Ireland. It was good to visit David but we missed Pat as she was called home to Heaven early because of cancer in 2015. (We had nicknamed them Chummie - from Call The Midwife and Piggy (my grand-daughters name for David)) God is Good!!!
