Well well well, what an adventure we have had these past few days, we have def had the experience of the outback! here goes....... We did a nightwalk in the rainforest in Cape Trib, we turned all the spot lights off and just listened to all the wildlife around us, and enjoyed looking at the stars above us. On the walk we saw Boyd Forest Dragons, spiders, rats and bats. We left Cape trib the following day and drove to Undarra where we saw the lava tubes which formed 190,000 years ago, where lava spilled all over the land causing hollow tunnels. We camped out in a swag tent in the middle of the bush, kangaroos were on our doorstep along with wallabys, We enjoyed a couple of walks during the day but found the heat was getting to us but the wildlife made it all worth while. Swarms of butterflys were all around us just crazy. In the evening we decided to be adventourus and ventured out into the bush, where we just gazed at the stars we were so lucky that we even saw not one but three shooting stars, there were so many of the stars it was like fireworks going off into the sky a million times. Perfect ending to a perfect day. We rose up early and enjoyed a bush brekkie gorgeous fry up, and we even had to make our own toast over the fire, something cliff was not good at, it took him two attemps then he gave up haha, he didnt spend much time at the scouts!
We travelled 650km to a little town called Karumba (Outback by the ocean) has a poulation of 900, so you can get an idea of this lil place. Well we headed out onto a half day fishing trip, out into the gulf, we caught Mackeral and Spanish Mackeral i was so pleased and very proud that I caught 3 of these huge fish i tell you they were so heavy winding them in, they certainly put up a fight! My muscles were killing the next day! so i would like to see some comments please on my big fish!!!! It was a great day out I really enjoyed just been out at sea, the captain was kind enough to fillet our fish for us which we were very grateful for. We again decided to be adventourous and battered the fish it turned out amazing and it was so yummy, we wont mention the chips tho, ha they were a lil bit of a disatser. We then walked down to the sea and watched the sunset on the ocean, we got some great pictures one of them does not look real, with all the lighting, ill let you have a look and decide which one for yourselfs. We then set off on our long roadtrip towards darwin, we have been on the road for three days travelling and covering about 700k a day, and all we have seen is flat land and trees. Australia is Huge no enourmous you dont realise this till your travelling for days seeing nothing! We have finally arrived at Katherine we will spend a couple of days maybe more exploring the town. We will def be exploring the waterfalls and swimming holes. Hope you enjoy the pictures and we will be in touch when we get to Darwin in a few days.
