Hey
18/10/10 New England and the USA, Heading south on the historical route again. State of Maine, Nothing but tree's and quaint fishing towns, Boston Massachusetts, an old English styled city, The home of the Revolution and the freedom trail, Bunker hill and Cheers bar from the TV program and everyone knows your name, We would mention the famed Tea party, But in true American historical style there's only a few rotting posts left and no one seems to care.
Plymouth the home town of America, Plymouth rock starting point of the American dream, A reproduction of the Mayflower and men wearing puritan costumes, The 1st street of the USA and another quaint New England coastal town closed for the season. Stopping in Salem to try and find some of Oonaghs relatives, To no avail.
23/10/10 We based our selves in Hyannis from where we explored Cape Cod, P-town or Province town a very gay and happy place where people dress their lap dogs as cowboys (women sprouting beards and men in teetering heels). We took the ferry over to the exclusive and highly expensive ex whaling islands of Nantucket and Martha's vineyard, Saw Billy Joel on the ferry.(He lives there and we couldn't afford to)
We travelled on through Rhode island to Connecticut where we had a great time with Oonagh's cousin Alison and her family.(fantastic home cooking)
30/10/10 Hurly burly New York City, We managed to find a reasonably priced hotel by New York standards, smack in the middle of Manhattan at Madison square garden (no bed bugs). Neon signs ago go and 1 block from Macys department store, they tax clothes now as of October 1st (how lucky am I !!!! yawn). We met with our dive buddy Laurie, with whom we dove with in Roatan Honduras, We attended the annual Halloween parade in Greenwich village, thousands in fancy dress, more of a burlesque and risqué show in the freezing cold (we have scarf's and gloves now). On Sunday Oonagh was running around central park and came across the kickoff marathon 5mile road race and decided to tag along and finished in a very reasonable time, We took in a Broadway musical "Rock of ages" and all the normal sights of NYC. and 5th Ave where the shop assistants need a spattering of Russian
Would we come back? to the USA, 33 states and 15,600 miles, I think we've done it for now.
05/11/10 Very poor turn out at Heathrow, 2 x Tim's (1 brother,1 uncle from America) No banners, No parade, Anyway we are back now until January 11 accepting free meals
We hope you have enjoyed following our dream, We have met so many great people and made many friends on our adventures, 34 countries, lots of laughs, Blasts and tales, Great experiences that have made it the trip of a life time, Would we do it again!!!!!
