Hiya everyone,
Are you keeping up, so far 10 countrys, 7 islands and 14 ferry rides all in our first month.
We arrived on friday in Dubrovnik, Via a small bit of Bosnia. Although we have been here before we just passed through it last time. The old city is beautiful so big and clean, the buildings are white stone with terracotta roofs the paving is shiney and smooth where it has been walked over for years, its really shiney " im really impressed".
Saturday and Sunday
we went to Lokrum an island just off Dubrovnik, it has botonic gardens, a dead sea lake with wild peacocks just wandering around. spent 2 days just sunbathing.
Monday
we went to Lopud where we holidayed 4 years ago, the hotel is closed for refurbishment. the place does look alot cleaner but it hasnt changed for the worse, still a very pretty place.
Tuesday
we did the city wall walk of Dubrovnik, its exactly like the photos, the weather is really hot, so it was really hard work. One women collapsed and a ambulance was called. the views are stunning, but it amazes me people putting there washing out when you have 100s of tourist passing by? and old buidings with sky dishes?.
Wednesday
we drove to Montenegro today as you go over the border the roads get worse, so do the drivers, it really is a freeforall (so many grave stones & flowers on the side of the road) the campsite we headed for had outside showers and hole in the ground toilet so we decided to find another one. We ended up at Ada not far from Albania (We were told Montenegro was Croatia without tourists, we reckon its Albania with tourists). Montenegro camping is never more than 2star so we didnt expect much. A field in the middle of nowhere, a toilet block,a couple of tents and 5 dogs trying to hump a b**** ((get the picture). the showers and toilets are shared, but inside with hot water, the washing facilities are outside and everyone watches you. In the afternoon we went to the beach which was lovely and sandy and very quiet, i think we are nearer Albania than we thought because there is security everywhere.
Montenegro is a new country trying hard to be capitalist, but has a basic infrastructure and a communist attitude
Thursday
started with rain, got bitten alive going to the toilet (10 bites) No water anywhere we got told it was a pressure problem and "maybe come on later", the final straw was when Dale went for a loaf and it was £6.00. We feel its a rip off. ( a shame because Dale was looking forward to a week in Montenegro)
We are now back in Croatia untill Saturday when we are off to Italy by ferry
