The flight took just over an hour from Krabi to Kuala Lumpa was quite bumpy but went quickly. Perry met us at the airport we got a taxi to his apartment. When we got in the taxi had a massive thunder storm. The rain was so bad that you couldn't see anything not even the cars just in front so they all put there hazards on but could still barely see them. Was quite scary would hate to drive in weather like that especially the way they drive out here. When we got to Perrys just lazed about so nice to be somewhere familiar not staying in a hostel. Had a brilliant view from his house looks over KL really good view and can see the storms coming in because visability gets less as the rain gradually comes in.
Our first day in KL just had a look around and got our bearings. We also had Roti Canai for breakfast which is curry was quite strange having it for breakfast but was lovely. After we went to a temple which was really nice different to the ones in Thailand not as glamourous inside its all open but was still nice. We also went to the main shopping centre which is massive. I'm sure it would be easy to get lost. It's very Western has a top shop and Zara and loads of more expensive shops, like Gucci and Jimmy Choo's. There are 2 massive shopping centers like that in KL.
The next day we went to a place called Batu Caves which are caves reached by climbing about 250 steps. Inside the cave is a temple people go there to worship all the time. Was different but very nice. There are loads of monkeys around which run wild everywhere there funny they steal peoples stuff though.
The storms in KL are brilliant when it thunders the whole apartment rumbles and there are some amazing lightning strikes. The day we got here some little shack houses outside perrys apartment got burnt down which we think was from it being hit by lightning. So sad coz the people that live there have nothing anyway and the only stuff they would of had would of been in their little houses. They have maanaged to rebuild them now took them almost 2 weeks to get the up properly and there only little wood shacks its quite sad they have nothing.
One night we went to the cinema which was called gold class cinema. The cinema had lazy boy chairs which were so comfy and you get a blanket is sooo nice. Could of easily fell asleep. We watched Knowing which was good quite scary tho lol. Was so cold in there tho good job they give you a blanket otherwise would of froze.
We went to China town for the day which was nice just full of cheap stalls. I brough a watch for just £2 and its still working hopefully will last me for travelling. While we working around i saw a rat made me jump was massive as well.
Perry lives right near the Patronus towers and they give away free tickets each day to go up to the link bridge on the 41st floor which is 170 metres above street level. Was a really clear day had a brilliant view and can see perrys apartment block only just but can still see it. After we jusdt went for a walk around the park outside the towers which has a little swimming pool for kids because its so hot here. Really nice park just so hot to sit in it.
Perry and Amanda took us away for the weekend to a little island connected to main land malaysia by a bridge. The Island is called Panang which is a world heritage site which means is protected and anyone that wants to build on it has to have permision so there are all the old malaysian houses and little shops and not really any high rise buildings. Very nice island very small. The hotel that we stayed in was lovely very posh not what were used to staying in while travelling but was a nice change. Had a nice pool which looked onto the sea and we had sea view rooms was really pretty.
On the way to Panang some guy was driving like an idiot driving so close so we moved over to let him past and he just kept following us every time we changed lanes. He even went into the hard shoulder to over take someone to just sit behind us wass really strange. Eventually he over took us because we went really slow.
In Panang we went to quite a lot of temples the area we were in was mainly chinesse and indian. We went to lots of Chinesse temples which were really nice and we went threw little india. After we went for a foot massage which was lovely could of fallen asleep.
After that in Panang we just lazed by the pool and sun bathed and swam was lovely. We only stayed in Panang for 2 nights then came back to KL.
When we came back to KL we just lazed about and enjoyed being able to just laze in a house.
We went up the KL Manara which is the 4th tallest tower in the world. Was really good we were 250 metres up and had a 360 degree view of KL. Was a really clear day so was nice. higher than in the Patronus towers and a better view as you can see all sides of the city and can see a lot further was really good.
We went for a really nice pedicure in KL centre mine was done by a lady boy was really good. After we went to the cinema saw the international but we went to a normal cinema which didn't have lazy boy chairs was just like home cinema but very small.
We went to the gym one day which was a really nice gym in a hotel. Was in the hotel which the F1 team stayed in a few weeks ago for the GP. They also have a pool so we lazed by that after the gym.
For our last few days we just lazed about and enjoyed being able to just relax before moving on. Enjoyed being in malaysia and staying with family. Now looking forward to getting back into backpacker life. We will be staying in dorms now so will be sharing with loads of other people. We haven't done this yet so will be something new looking forward to it will be a good way to meet people but no privacy.
Off to Singapore now only there for 2 days then off to Australia but looking forward to our short trip to Singapore first.
