Hey guys!! Well we are now in Ko Chang in a place called lonely beach which is a really tiny place with little beach but its quite nice. We are actually staying here 3 days to relax after our trek (will explain later) we are though staying in a bamboo hut with just a double bed in it and mozzy net but it costs 200 baht a night between us which is about 3 pounds a night bargain!! But the shower and toilets nice!! The toilets are all squatters yuck I will be glad to get home if only to use a nice toilet. The shower is a hose pipe in an outdoor cubicle but its ok I am used to it now!! Our lovely trek in Chiang Mai. We got there on the thursday and settled in to a really cool chilled out hostel where you tell them the night before you leave rather then how many nights you are staying. I can see you can get stuck there for a long time. Chiang Mai ws also nice even though it is a city is has no sky scrapers or anything and feels more like a big town. We arrived though in the middle of Songkhran the Thai new year where they have a massive water fight across the whole country for 2-4 days depending on where you are. Chiang Mai is meant to be the best place to be so we were lucky to get a room. The minute we left our hostel that day we each got a bucket of cold water poured over our heads soaked to the skin. We walked to the main part of town getting wetter as we went. By the time we got there we decided to just join in and went and bought a water gun each. Every one literally is out on the streets joining in driving around in trucks with buckets and pistols all the shops had hose pipes they were soaking people with, loads of people were filling there buckets in the canel where the water was brown I dread to think what was in there. We finished at about 6 but each day its starts at 9am and goes through to 7pm but we hd had enough. We went out that night with a few people from the hostel it was a bit crazy we manged as usual to attract a weirdo, a thai guy who worked in our hostel and for the rest of the night would not let us talk to anyone else. By the end of the night he had got into a fight witha scottish guy we were talking to. What a loser!! He didnt speak to us again for the rest of the time we were there, I am not surprised he should be ashamed! We stayed around the hostel until 7pm the next night coz we couldnt be bothered to get wet again, at 7 tho we hit the night market it was massive although the one we are going to the day before we come home is apparently even bigger!!
