Ceri's Big Adventure!
Hey
I didnt tell you about the trek.
Well it was a two day one night trek, we were picked up at half nine and driven to a waterfall there was about 10 of us in total. We stayed at the water fall for about 30mins went swimming etc and then drove on for lunch (it took about 2 hours to get out of Chiang Mai). After lunch we went to see some hot springs an a geyser not that exciting as we had seen so many in NZ. The trek started here with a really steep uphill walk for about 30-45mins we were not prepared at all, one women in the other group nearly colapsed. I had a cold and chesty cough which did not help at all added to the really hot weather and yes I am not at my fittest either, I thought I was gonna have an asthma attack near the top and I dont even have asthma, i have also never sweated soo much in all my life I didnt know it was possible. Everyone was worn out and really sweating apart from this young dutch couple who were training to be P.E teachers and did not even look the slightest bit worn out. We carried on up and down hills each one feeling worse. We got to this little hill tribe village and stopped for drinks then we were off again another 2ish hours to go to the next village. We finally got there just before it got darkand settled into our one roome for all of us sleeping on the floor cosy!! We had dinner and sang a few songs with our leader on the guitar, got eaten by mosquitos and I got the record for falling over so many times in one day.
The next mjorning I was feeling really sick so gave breakfast a miss. This sickness lasted for a few days after I didnt eat much for ages amazing for me!!
I went to sit outside so not to be anti social and within 2mins got stung 5 times by these horrid fly things through my socks and everything. The sting on my footed added to my already swelling ankle from twisting it the day before. I cannot tell you how much I was hating it here.
We set off again at 9ish up another really steep hill and then down hill the rest of the wayto the elephant camp. The elephant ride was brilliant although not that comfy. I was sat with the Dutch couple andf we took it in turns to each haver a go riding on its neck. The elephants are so well behaved it is amazing they were brilliant, he did keep turning while i was sat on his neck I thought he was trying to push me off.
Bamboo rafting was next, It looked a bit dodge as you go along the raft sits just below the water. The males push the raft with the big poles and we had to just stand there. Everytime there was a rough bit we had to sit down and got soaked. To top it off it then chucked it down not just heavy rain but rain that hurt when it hit you, I just laughed all the way, Anna thought I had gone mad but what else can you do?? I have vowed never to listen to one of anna bright ideas again and never to go trekking again ever!!
