O.K, so we didn't quite made it to Agra. Damm those confusing 12hour clocks and praise us for checking with Jet Airways just in time for us not to miss our flights to Bangkok!
Instead we spent a wonderful day in Delhi and visited the International Toilet Museum. No, it wasn't crap before you ask! The museum was fun but it was actually part of a larger project/organisation which provides sanitation and educates the "untouchables" so they can gain employment in areas such as tailoring and administration. We visited the school and even took a look at their wastewater treatment system!! Don't worry, I'm not missing work that much, and balance things up again had two Henna Tattos done in the afternoon!
We've also been to Red Fort (Not all that red and not that Forty!)Â and had a cycle rickshaw ride in 40 degrees of dry heat. Poor rickshaw driver, no wonder he changed his mind and wanted to charge us double when we got to the metro station! The Delhi Metro is also cool. I particularly liked the "No Spitting " signs and lack of ettiquitte in letting people off the train first before you get on yourself!
India is a great country; its made me laugh, cry, angry, humbled and confused. Sometimes all in the same hour!Â
I have a few observations about India. I hope it doesn't offend anyone, thats not my intention.
You know you're in India when..
1)You get conflicting advice and information is hard to come by.
2)You feel everyone is watching you and no action goes by un-noticed
3)Men and women clear their throats and spit it in the street.
4)Men are friendly with each other, holding hands and putting their arms around each others shoulders.
5)Contast and diversity is all around you.
6)When you feel like you're having a hard time, you see someone who is REALLY having a hard time, and feel very lucky to be you.
6)The unexpected and incredible happens!
Thanks India, you've been great!
