Rockhampton, home of the most humid of climates and viscious mosquitos, nothing our new best friend the Mozzie net won't sort out fot us though. We have just got to Airlie Beach in preparation for the Great barrier Reef tomorrow& then the worlds most beautiful beach on the Whitsunday islands on Sunday morning.
Yesterday was a great day in Rockhampton (on tropic of Capricorn) as we visited the local Crocodile farm. There were some huge monsters on show and a tour teaching you loads about these very impressive creatures. Biggest one there was 5.3 metres in length and the fatty weighed in at nearly a tonne !!! Afterwards we gold to hold one of the little b*****s and he was quite simply awesome. We're now considering having one when back in the UK for the pond
After this we headed for the Botanical gardens & zoo which for a freeebie were stunning. It was here we gopt to see our next lot of indigenous creatures up close, The Kangaroos (with Joeys) very cute and cuddly Koala's some Wallabies, Emu's Cassowarry's and the good old Kookaburr. Following anightmare finding accomodation/stopover for the van we drove through the night on a drive of biblical proportions and are now feeling the pace so off for a kip in readiness for the beauty to come. Speak soon.........
