Well Well another year is about to pass us by, and we're ready to see it out in style. We're staying in an amazing Sydney apartment almost overlooking the Harbour but have panoramic views of the Chinese gardens and can see the world going by. Tonights plans include a rooftop party to watch the Fireworks and then see where the night takes us.
Just to let you know that on route down from Byron bay we stopped 2 nights in the amazing town of Nimbin. A place that seems to have its own laws where Cannabis is concerned and is still occupied by a large Hippe community that love to smoke the night away. We stayed at an amazing site with views overlooking the cloud covered mountains, and stayed up talking to Bruce the Hippie who gave us some good insights and passed on his Helpful Hippie tips. He may have smoked the weed equvalent of a days grass cuttings but played a mean game of chess ! (photo's to follow)
Onwards down towards Sydney we passed through the Hunter Valley, Australia's most famous growing region for Shiraz Cabernet Sauvignon, Semillon & Verdelho grape varieties (amongst a few others) and we proceeded to take full advantage of the free tastings on offer. Cheeses & preserves, olives and loads of wines some not so good, but some that we felt compelled to bring a few bottles of with us to Sydney ! From here we stayed at a beautiful park in the small town of Broke and then did some of the wild rambling roads through the what can only be described as epic scenery of New South Wales. Very lush green and densely forested mountains. Following a fuel guage check we had to turn back and take an alternative route but this proved to be worth every extra Kilometre.
The road from Broke to Sydney was amazing and through some very winding and picturesque landscape that you have to see to beleive,
So, will be New year here when you are probably eating your last lunch of 2008, enjoy whatever you get up to and speak to you all very soon.
