It's a long one, sorry!
Unfortunately I was quite ill for the remaining time i spent in Shinoukville but i was lucky to have a nice room at a low cost.Once i was a bit better we made our way to Siem Reap on a short visit to Angkor Wat and the many other Wat's surrounding it. We wanted to cycle around for the day but it was so hot and i hadn't eaten for nearly three day's so we got a tuk tuk driver for the day. Our first stop was the mighty Angkor Wat itself. It was a beautiful day to see it surrounded by a moat but we were instantly hassled by young children wanting us to buy from them. I got some post cards and then i think one of the others swore at me in Cambodian as i hadn't bought from her! They were quite aggressive with their style of selling, but maybe that just shows how much they need the money. Angkor Wat looked lovely as we walked down the long pathway but we were quite surprised as we were expecting it to be much larger than the Taj Mahal. However the depth of the Wat really made it so much grander and so much older than the Taj. We were also very happy as there were a lot less people visiting than there had been at the Taj so it was a lot more calm and peaceful. We strolled around the Wat and the well kept grounds for an hour or so before returning to our tuk tuk driver. He took us on to the next few Wat's. They were not as well kept and were slightly smaller but they were a lot of fun to climb and explore. One of them had huge faces carved into the ancient stone and one had lots of elephants carved into it. Some of them were very steep and the stone was quite wobbly in places. When the Khamer Rouge took over the country many of the monks and Cambodians took apart the Wat's in fear of destruction and made plans of how to put them together again. Unfortunately the Khamer Rouge destroyed the plans but there has been a good but obvious attempt to put it all back together again bit by bit.At one of the Wat's we joined in with some of the local kids playing this shuttlecock type game that i love. It is a kind of shuttlecock in the way it flies but it as a flat bottom which is hit with an open palm or kicked (or anything really as long as it goes back up again). Soon there were a group of about 15 local children and adults who work around the Wat playing. We played for an hour or so, i really don't know where i got the energy from. My favorite Wat though was the one used in 'Tomb Raider' and 'Indiana Jones'. It is probably the worst kept out of all of them but that is what makes it so amazing. The trees and jungle around the Wat were taking over. There were trees growing everywhere and their roots were winding all over the walls and grounds. I spent so long here and took so many pictures. I only added a couple of the pictures on the blog but i took about 20-30, i loved it. Just to make the pictures even more interesting we found a long dark corridor of stone and took turns in pretending to be Angalina!!! (I really am shcked at my behavior as a 27 year old and it gets worse once i hit Koh Phagnan). We were very tired when we left but we found some energy to take our tuk tuk driver for a beer and find out a little bit about his life in Siem Reap. Our next stop was Thailand; an Island not to far from the boarder called Koh Chang. We had no idea of where we were going but met a Sweedish couple on the way who reccomended Lonely Beach Resort and a place called Secret Gardens. We all arrived quite late and checked into our little wooden hut. It was very sweet but very open to nature. The bathroom was in the open air and i was taking showers with lizards and spiders! We had a nice few days on the beach and some good evenings out in the bars. I had a very funny conversation with a very open ladyboy who was actually so so pretty i couldn't believe it. We spent a lot of time in one of the bars and got to know a Thai lady working there and here little daughter Bamboo very well. It was here that i found out about my new baby nephew James and got very home sick for the very first time since being away. Lots of kisses to you James xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx. One morning after we had been out drinking we woke up and started to get ready for a day at the beach when Annie started trying to work out why her 60 quid 'All Saints' belt was ruined, surely she hadn't been drunk enough to fall over and scratch it up that badly and if she had we would have remembered. I had a look at the belt whilst trying to stop annie from crying and it was plain to see that we had been visited by a very hungry rat in the night!!!!!! Actually we were more concerned about the belt!We left Koh Chang and stopped off in Bangkok for one night to do some shopping and then made our way down to Koh Phagnan, the weather was quite bad in Bankok so we were pleased to get away.Again we had know idea of where we were going in Koh Pahgnan but were pretty sure we wanted a nice beach with some night life but not too close to where the full moon party is held, (didn't fancy recovering the next day on that beach or swimming in the sea, one big toilet for the men i think). We took up an offer from some tuk tuk driver and he took us to a lovely beach hut resort where our hut was yards from the beach. It was a lovely relaxing day but we wanted to go somewhere with a little more life. That evening we looked around and found Dream Hill on the West Coast which was just perfect, it had not been effected with rising prices due to full moon, it had a swimming pool and the beach was the nicest yet; turquoise water and white sand. Whats more is the hut was fairly closed in so no wild life allowed. We went snorkeling in the coral which was amazing, probably not the best in Thailand but better that i thought, i was amazed by the fish mostly, so many colours and different types of fish. One day we took out a ped out (sorry mum.......again) to explore the beautiful Island. We ended up in the North West at a lovely quiet beach which is joined to a small island when the tide is out. We went to a party at Pirate bar where there were lots of people dressed up as pirates and dancing to trance on the beach, that was fun. A couple of days later we went to a well known pre party which was a pool party. This was lots of fun too, i thought about going to the party but not going in the pool but after a few drinks before we left we were straight in there. We were on each others shoulders having pushing fights with everyone else, dancing in the pool and doing bombs trying to make as much splash as possible (how old are we?) We left the pool as i think the water was getting quite dirty and it seemed to turn out to be a couples only pool the later it got!!!! But we did find a finding Nemo swimming hat which we had some fun with and had a dance in the bar. A couple of nights later was full moon party so we recovered and got on it again. We had lots of fun dancing at all the different bars and having stupid paint put on our faces. We lost flip flops, danced on tables and when i spotted a bloke dancing with a broom i though i would join him. We bumped in to the American girls from New York who were also staying at our resort and spent a lot of the night with them. The next night was the Champions league, we hadn't had much sleep but managed to stay up to watch it when it finished badly at 5am.Last night we had dinner on the beach with the American girls as it was their last night and played some stupid games with a bunch of English blokes. (Hi girls if you are reading, enjoy the rest of your trip). Today we got peds out again to explore the amazing Island. We went up to the North West coast to yet another lovely beach; a little better for swimming though, not as much coral. We headed back and went up to a bar which had amazing views of the sunset and had a nice Thai curry which with lots of potato, yum. We are de-toxing now over the next few days with lots of fruit and water before heading to the west of Thailand to more islands.
