Well we got started today for our trip to Cape York. Left home at 5am in freezing temperatures. By the time we hit Collie it was -2. A lovely breakfast at Williams with a hot chocolate woke everyone up again! We stopped at Hyden to surf Wave Rock and do a bit of exploring. The kids and I had never been there so was a real treat. We have decided to "sticker" up the car as we head across Australia so we added our first sticker yesterday. Got into Kalgoorlie at about 1.30pm. Headed straight past the old place to check it out. Still looks the same - smaller than I remember! Been a while since I have been here so enjoyed getting to know the old town again. Had a quick lunch at Monty's (it's still there) before heading out to the viewing site for the Super Pit. Wow! It is huge now. My future geologist son loved it. Caught up with some old friends, Warren and Kim, before grabbing some extra thermals for the kids. It was a brisk 15 degrees here today and I think that was a generous 15! Had a gorgeous dinner from The Noodle Box on Hannan Street. Very yummy and very generous sizes.
Going to try and do the mine tour tomorrow and have a bit of a look around before we head off on Saturday.
Heading to bed now and it is only 8 o'clock!
