Hi all, we've reached Torquay in Victoria which is only a couple of hours away from Melbourne. Since our last blog we've travelled along the Great Ocean Road from Warrnambool to Torquay which we've really enjoyed despite the weather being indifferent. We've had a few days of sunshine here and there but it's mostly been either cold, gray or raining, or a combination of all 3.
Our Great Ocean Road-trip started when we left Warrnambool which was a small city/big town we enjoyed. The beach was great and the public BBQ's in the parks were brilliant. we also enjoyed it there as we camped on the 'Showground' - a dog track with camping facilities around it. We managed to sneak in and out for 2 nights without paying, and we also got electricity! When we made it to Peterborough the weather was awful so we carried on to Port Campbell and left the coastal sights of the 12 Apostles etc for the next day. This proved to be a good move as the next day the sun was out and the rain had stopped so we got some great pics and enjoyed the day. After Port Campbell the road got a little less 'Oceany' and cuts through forest making it very windy. The Ocean scenery returned when we made it to Lorne where we had a good time (again despite the weather).
We're now in Torquay for a day or so and we're looking at getting to Melbourne early next week after a brief stop in Geelong. We're both looking forward to seeing Melbourne for the first time and spending some time in a big city. After that we're going to pick up the pace with our driving to get into NSW where hopefully the temperatures are a few degrees warmer. It's about 15-20 in Victoria at the moment, which isn't that cold, but as we've been accustomed to 35's in Asia and 40+ in Adelaide, it feels very chilly. I'm sure all in England who read this say - "Them two have gone soft!"
