We've made it to Sydney in the Beast which Catherine never thought we'd do but I knew he'd hold up. Since our last blog, Torquay I think, we stopped at Geelong and then Melbourne where we stayed with Beth and Ste - well sort of. We used their parking space for the van and just used their place for showers etc which was very good of them. We spent about 5 days in Melbourne and spent a few of them in the city and surrounding suburbs. We also spent a few days in St Kilda on the beach chilling out. The weather was really warm in Melbourne, as it was in Geelong, and it made a nice change from the cold we had on the Great Ocean Road.
After Melbourne we set off for the other side of Victoria. We really would have liked to have seen the Mornington Peninsula and Wilsons Prom National Park but we're starting to get low on money so we thought we'd head for Sydney as soon as we could. This decision was made even easier when my nephew Eddie was born so we planned to make Sydney in 4/5 days which we managed. First stop was Sale and that was just an overnight stop as it had thrown it down all day. Next stop was Lakes Entrance which a nice spot a few hours from the NSW border which we made the next day and stopped at Eden. After that was Batemans Bay and then Huskisson near Jervis Bay, which was probably the nicest place in NSW so far.
So we're now in Sydney and managed to see the little one today which was great. We're off to stay with friends we met in Laos, they live in Bondi so we're going to stay there and hopefully find something for ourselves asap and start looking for jobs, which after several months of travelling is not an exciting prospect, but we're looking forward to getting settled in Sydney and enjoying the city (which isn't very difficult!)
