Hello all, it's been a while since our last blog from Adelaide. We've had a great few months in South Australia that has inlcuded Christmas, New Year, birthdays and temperatures in the mid-40's. We've had a weekend away on the beaches of Wallaroo and Moonta, north of Adelaide, been to an A-League football match and the one dayer between Australia and NZ at the Adelaide Oval. We've had a great time staying with family here and we're now about to set off on the next part of our adventure - our road trip around the coast of Australia.
We've managed to pick up an old Toyota Hiace campervan from a couple of French travellers and after a few weeks of TLC and budget car repairs we're ready to hit the road. Our van has been named Brian 'the Beast' Jensen after Burnley's heroic shot stopper and the Beast and ourselves are attempting one mother of a road trip from Adelaide to Cairns calling in at the big cities of Melbourne, Sydney and Brisbane along the way, but most importantly the coastal towns and beaches in between. Our trip is roughly 5,000kms long and we're looking at spending 3/4 months camping in the van and lazing on the beaches, exploring the national parks, and driving along the famous Great Ocean Road.
There'll be plenty of pictures to follow from our time in Adelaide and our road trip. Our first is likely to be, as the picture suggests, the McLaren Vale wine region for some free plonk and cheese, with Kangaroo Island a likely destination for the weekend.
