Alreyt! Got a bit more time to write this one and now we can see what we are actually writing - the computers here are fast. Honest.
We've moved onto another hostel in Beijing for 2 nights, we really liked the first one but it was booked up and Pickles isn't one for staying in a dorm room. It was in an old hutong (narrow alley way with old Chinese buildings) and the street was lined with bars, cafe's and restaurants. The new one is a bit more basic but we're near(ish) the train station for our 11 and a half hour overnight trip to Xi'an, an ancient city near to the sight of the Terracotta Warriors.
Beijing so far has been great, we've seen pretty much all there is in the city including Tiananmen Square, Forbidden City, Temple of Heaven Park, Beihai Park (huge lake and Buddhist temples), Jingshan Park (amazing view of the Forbidden City) Donghuamen night market - where we sampled tasty treats such as fried silk worm, crickets and scorpions. Catherine got involved with the scorpion scoffing and quite enjoyed it, but was picking claws out of her mouth for a good 10 minutes after. Nice.
We've got 2 more days to go in Beijing and tomorrow we're off to the Great Wall, with a visit to the Summer Palace planned for Wednesday before our train at night. I've succumbed to a mild case of the Beijing babbers today and haven't been feeling great so we've took it relatively easy - all the walking around is tiring us out!
When we've moved on from here we'll put some pictures up for all to see. Hope all is well back in England (and Australia), I'm still in shock that Burnley and England won in the same week.
Take care and speak soon,
Pollard and Pickles
