Saturday 21 July Barcelona to Aix-en-Provence via Marseille.
Today was a travel day as we caught a flight from Barcelona to Marseille and then the bus to Aix-en-Provence, just 20 minutes north of Marseille Airport. The flight was full and very quick just 45 minutes in the air, they served us a drink and didn't have time to collect the cups before landing. Unfortunately, it was another eye-watering experience for us with flights into and out of France - we thought we had got lucky this time but different hygiene standards once again overcame fresh air on the flight into Marseille....
Regardless, when we arrived it took only another 35mins into Aix-en-Provence where we met our friends from Dallas, Texas.
We have hired a smallish convertible Peugeot and the back seat is very small, so it’s boy’s in the front and girls in the back. After meeting in the centre of town, we headed towards our accommodation. The GPS was giving instructions to the farmhouse and we appeared to be going around in circles when the GPS suddenly announced "Seriously Lost" – it had actually said “satellite lost” but from where we were sitting seriously lost explained the situation perfectly.
We are staying in a beautiful house set up in the hills just above Aix called La Pistache (the pistachio). The house is fabulous with everything you would want. The view is lovely and the weather perfect as we sat outside and discussed the adventures of the next week over a glass of wine. We have a lot to do … No photo’s for today’s blog, we’ll make up for it tomorrow.
