So after the morning of swimming in the pool and in the man made sea which was really nice and warm, we decided to catch the bus to Dubai as it was much cheaper than the taxi $14 compared to $80 in the taxi. We had to get a taxi to the bus station to catch the bus which took 1.5 hours which went pretty quick.
Once we got to Dubai we checked in and decided to go exploring the lady at reception told us a few places to go, so we caught the train ( the train was very easy and cheap to catch) to a place called Al Karama which was suppose to have markets and cheap souvenirs. As soon as we got off the train we were approached by a guy who kindly was going to show us to the markets but instead to his store which had souvenirs and fake stuff. Of course we got talked into it and bought a watch for Brett which we didn't need but we thought it was nice. After that we continued down the street to find the markets but all we found was more shops selling fake stuff so we decided to head back. We caught the train home, which is an interesting experience especially for women, men starring all the time and not moving when getting in and out if the train. Its very interesting how women have no rights here and it makes you feel weird. There also is a women's and children's only carriage on the train which we accidentally went into and sat down before being told to move hehe whoops. After that we had a quiet night went out and had Indian for dinner which cost $12 for both of us and we didn't get sick, bonus :)
Today we decided to go to the gold souk so we jumped on the train when we arrived there was one sign to the souk but after that there was no signs so we got lost pretty quickly. We asked one man for directions in a hotel but still we got lost but we did find the spice markets. We had a look around there a man showed us all his spices and when we didn't want to buy any thing he got a little angry and said why you waste my time, even though I said in the beginning we are only looking, so we are know now to be more careful. We then found Dubai creek which is in old town Dubai and decided to go on a river cruise on an old boat, it was hot but nice. We then tried to find the gold souk again and this time we were successful, by this stage we were a bit hot and bothered there was lots of stalls selling gold and white gold jewellery very beautiful luckily for Brett I didn't find any thing I liked.
We had a city sightseeing tour booked for this afternoon which we went on but not sure if this was a city sightseeing tour it came free with our safari tour which we are doing tomorrow night. On the tour we went to a nice hotel/ shopping centre on the water which looked at burj al arab the sail shape hotel which is a 6 star hotel. We then went to a mosque which was not open but we could take photos. We then went to the Dubai museum which was quite interesting which is unusual for me to say. We then went on another boat cruise across the river and back to the spice market we then decided to leave the tour as we had done all this in morning not realising it was in the tour so we headed back home on the train ( which is always an interesting experience ) and have a swim.
A380 count increased by 3 today while on the river cruise Brett spotted three take off in the hour we were on the cruise. Total 9
