Today we headed out to explore Cinque Terra and its 5 villages. We decided to catch the ferry to the furtherest village and then catch the train back to each of the villages. We caught the ferry to Riomaggiore, the ferry was so full we got a seat eventually and got to take lots of photos of all the villages from the water they are all so pretty with all the different colours. We got off at Riomaggiore had a good look around we started walking up the hill thinking the train was up there but it wasn't but there was a information centre up the top of the hill ( weird really why up the top of the hill) we found some others looking for the train station and we followed them and we should not of as we hiked higher and higher and then we found out we were in the wrong spot twe had to go down these tiny tiny stair, it wasn't much fun then we found the station. It looked like there was a nice tunnel to the train station to the town ( stupid us). We then could not find the subway to get to the other side of the track so we missed the train, it was in a building how stupid again who looks in building for a underpass to the other side if the track, cause we missed the train the next one did not come for an hour to the next village or another one in 5 min straight back to our village so we did that. We had some lunch then headed back to the 2nd village Manarola it was very cute it was like a small fishing village, we walked out to the point and got lots of good photos and sat and admired for a while. There wasn't much beach just lots of rocks the water was so clear and blue I would have loved to swim but it was so cold :( I did think about just doing it. We skipped Congnilia and went to Vernazza it wasn't as pictures as the other but still nice we got some homemade gelato and sat on the rocks for a while and enjoyed the scenery. Vernazza and Monterosso were both affected by floods in 2008 not sure if the other villages where to, but where we stayed was badly affected by the flood and they only just reopened in April it was really nice and modern compared to all the other buildings. Brett and I again where very silly we decided at Vernazza to take note of when the train comes so we didn't have to wait, so we arrived at the station a train was coming so we hurried and it was on the other platform so we just thought it wasn't ours so we sat and waited and waited and our train did not come so we looked at the time table and the train that was there before was ours. Oops so stupid we heard another couple had done the same thing at least we weren't the only ones, so we had to wait an hour for the next one :(
We had an easy night trying to figure out our plans for the next few days and again had a late dinner at 9 30 a lot of places are closing at that time so we decided we really need to eat early as no one want to serve us when we arrive late.
