We left Vancouver on Thursday to head to Whistler, we picked up the car but had a little difficulty as they have a law that from Oct 1 to April you need winter tyres or carry snow chains or they can turn you around and not let you on the roads. But the car company's don't allow snow chains on there vehicles and don't have winter tyres. We had paid for snow package which included chains and maybe winter tyres but they said they don't include those and there is no need for winter tyres or chains and it's not the law or on there website. So I got a bit unhappy with them and they said they can't take responsibility for where there cars go ( meaning the Rockies). So we went to another car company they had one car ( I mean truck: dodge ram) left with winter tyres and told us we have to have them if we are going to Jasper and Banff. So after a stressful morning we got the right car a little more expensive but at least we know we won't be turned back and can get to where we wont. As winter has come early and there is lots of snow on the mountains already.
So in whistler it's abit quite summer has finished and winter is soon to start but lots of the activities are closed. We had a look around town, went to few lakes yesterday, in the morning we headed out to look at the bike track and one guy came off and started looking at me and it was a friend: Alex (my cousins friend from school who I got to know) he has been here for the summer and spending two years here. We chatted for a while and hopefully catching up for a beer.
Today we headed up the mountain to go on the peak to peak gondola. It took 25min on the first gondola to get us up the top, once we got to the top there was so much snow ( it's all came in the last week and it's very unusual every one has said, but we are very happy. So we played in the snow took lots of photos. We then went on the peak to peak gondola it takes you from whistler mountain to black comb mountain, it's pretty amazing its held up by only 4 towers it takes 11mins each way. It was cloudy but the gondola took us above the clouds we have a two day pass so we are heading up again tomorrow and we are hoping for blue sky's.
It's lucky we didn't get a two year working visa just incase as we might not of come home. There are so many Aussies here and lots of jobs going, and it's a bit of a tease seeing the snow and not being able to ski. :(
