What a great few days we had in Jasper, on Thursday we went on a tour to the Columbian ice-fields to go on the athabasca glacier it took about 1.5 hours to get out there with a few stops on the way at some waterfalls which were very pretty. We went on the glacier in a big snow bus trucks that took us into the middle of glacier, we had 30 mins on the glacier it was freezing it was about 0 degrees but with the wind the guide said it would be about -5 OMG freezing but fun. We got home and headed back to Pyramid lake while the sun was out to get some good pictures.
Yesterday we headed to Maligne canyon and lake. The canyon was breath taking so amazing how some thing like that can be formed and there was clear water running all threw it with little ponds of water, it made you want to get in and sit in there with a wine. :) After the canyon we went to the lake a little overcast and very cold but still really pretty.
Today we left Jasper along the Icefield parkway it's about 300 km through a national park which has 100 glaciers. It took us about 5 hours to get through it will all our stops and hikes. Our first stop was at Mt Edith cavell which has a hanging glacier called angel glacier as it looks like a angel. It hung over a huge frozen lake with lots of icebergs in it. Down the road was a beautiful turquoise lake which we walked down to, it had started to ice over but only very thinly. We continued on making lots of stops, admiring lots of glaciers along the way, taking plenty of pictures, played in snow at the top of the mountain and we also found a pretty frozen lake which we threw rocks at and it didn't break, pretty funny seeing all the rocks on top of the lake. Lol
We now have a few days in lake louise :)
