New Zealand arrives, and it's cold. Landed at 11.30pm last night and was a mere 3degrees outside...i thought it was just the aircon at first then i noticed people huddled in jackets inside the terminal waiting for taxis. So I've got used to seeing my breath again now, and wearing trousers instead of shorts and jumpers too. I even thought about buying gloves but it's not quite cold enough. So this puts my camping plan into abit of jeopardy because my sleeping bag isnt really good enough for temperatures below 10 or at a push 5 degrees and it'll certainly be colder than that out in the country. Gunna have afew days in Christchurch, send some postcards, decide where to go next and that kinda thing. Do some washing because all my clothes smell like pond water from the flooding incident.
Christchurch itself is pretty nice, alot like Oxford, and I'm sure they must have bought these tree's ready grown that line the streets, because theyre too big and old to have been planted when the city began... The botanic gardens are really nice and there were still afew tourists out in the punts. Even the ducks looked pretty cold. But i had a nice time by the river and kicking the autumn leaves around. Will try with photo uploads tomorrow i think, it's too annoying to keep trying and it fail after 20minutes of the upload working fine. I'm quite enjoying it not being the high season here, less tourists which means i dont get hassled as much.
