I was in Texas when the Super Bowl was played, but I didn't have the money for a ticket to watch the game. The price for at ticket was around 3-5000 dollars for a ticket, so that definately didn't go with my travel budget.
I went to the stadium before the game anyway, cause I was living with a local family in Arlington, where the game was played.
The atmosphere before kickoff was brilliant, and as an european soccerfanatic it was nice to see how the fans were celebrating the big day together. That isn't always the case in soccer. But here I saw Steelers and Packers fans drinking, eating and dancing together, and the atmosphere around the Cowboys Stadium was really friendly and nice.
Actually the only mad and negative vibrations there came from some fanatic christians who with there speakers and micropohone were trying to convince all the fans how bad it was to go the Super Bowl and how much anyone who is gay, sportsfan or drink a beer will end up in HELLLLL!.
I don't really mind people getting in to their religion, but please let other people mind their own religionbusiness. Don't drag that fanatic s... down on other peoples cheeseheads.
There were a lot of cheeseheads in Arlington that day. Pittsburgh Steelers might have been favorites before the game, but it was very clear that all the Green Bay Packers fans with their characteristic cheesehead-hats didn't believe the predictions for the game. They believed that Packers would win and eventually they were right.
Led by MVP-quarterback Aaron Rodgers the Packers beat the Steelers with 31-25, but after the game it was pretty hard to find a nice celebration-party nearby the stadium.
I guess that most of the fans went to Dallas Downtown or simply went back to hotels or back home, but it was a surprise to me that they didn't have more of a party after the game. Especially thinking about the fact that every single fan probable spent around 5000 dollars or more to watch the game.
But the build-up party before kickoff was definately an experience I will remember, eventhough it ended up pretty bad for me with troubles with my videocamera. One our of filming getting lost because of a out-of-function SD Card.
