Today we had grand plans of hiring a Porsche 911 Carrera and driving on the autobahn (no speed limits) to Neuschwanstein Castle. No seriously, we did. But of course the 911 wasn't available, so we settled for a Ford Focus instead… which turned out to be fortuitous because just like the other two times we've had vehicles, once we hit the road it started snowing. So with the visibility down to a few hundred meters we couldn't even stretch the legs of the Focus let alone a 911! The snow certainly didn't slow some down though; at 140 km/h we definitely spent most of our time in the slow lane.
We had a beautiful drive through the German countryside in the snow, which by the time we made it to the castle was falling pretty hard. Hard enough for us not to want to walk up to the castle and freeze our butts off, so we turned around and drove back to Munich! We didn't get to see the castle, but at least Troy can now say he's driven on a German autobahn!
We loved the Beirhalle so much that it was back there again for tea, and now for some sleep before more travel tomorrow.
