Today was a day for travel and jet lag! Up at 7 to be at the airport for a midday departure. The plane was absolutely packed, with our seats pretty much in the boot (absolute last row possible in a 747 which is a looong way from the front)! The flight wasn't too painful; we managed to make up some time during the flight and got into London about 30 mins early. The flight was over 3/4s full of Chinese, which made it interesting for the British air stewards to explain what the meal choices were. Ever seen a pom cluck like a chook and flap his arms or moo like a cow with horns on his head?? Hilarious!!
After the flight we learnt all about cueing. 15 min cue to get off the plane, 45 min cue for customs, 5 min cue for bags, 20 min cue for first train, 10 min cue for second train. By the time we got to the hotel it was about 6pm, or 2am Beijing time, and we were pretty over it. But the best way to cure jet lag is to push through, so we wandered down to the local pub for a burger bigger than your head and a proper imperial pint of the good stuff! 8pm now and there's no chance of keeping the eyes open any longer…
