Brisbane was good, I was only there for one night as I decided I just wanted to get down to Sydney to sort out work.
After Brisbane I went to Surfers Paradise. Surfers wasnt my favourite place on the East Coast, apparently its a love it or hate it place. I was there for 2 nights, had a brilliant night out on the first night when I did a backpackers party bus which was brilliant but the rest of my time there I just looked around the place and relaxed on the beach. The whole place is glitzy and I found a little tacky but the beaches were very nice, the main attraction for Surfers is all the theme parks.
From Surfers Paradise I then went down to Byron Bay. Byron Bay was brilliant, a really cool hippy town. Unfortunatly when I was there the weather was'nt great so I didnt get to use the beach untill the afternoon of my last day, but I did go to the lighthouse. This is the most easternly point of the Australian east coast and had amazing views. Byron had a great laid back feel about it, and i was sad to leave there.
Next stop on the Oz bus was Surf Camp which is included in my pass. It was alot of fun, I loved surfing and even stood up a few times (its alot harder than it looks) but near the end of my lesson I stood and fell off the board on to the top of my foot. Oh my god it hurt so much and as the night went on it got worse and worse!..i could barely walk, I needed help to get everywhere! The next morning it was worse but luckily the whole next day we were on the bus for 8 hours down to Sydney, so it had a good rest. I went to the docs and got bandaged up and told to rest. Its much better now. It's kinda scared me though to surf again, it's so easy to hurt yourself!
Sydney next and I love it!! It has got such a nice feel about it and I just loved it straight away! Lots of friends I made down the coast arrived at the same time as me or had already arrived so it was great to catch up with people. After a day in Sydney I booked a flight to New Zealand (Christchurch where I am now) to get my working visa. Then in Sydney before I left for NZ I handed out my CV and was lucky enough to get offered a job in The Body Shop for over christmas, which is perfect! It's not all official yet because they don't know if they have enough hours for me to be full time but they are gonna sort that out when I get back on Thursday.
Now in Christchurch and it's so lovely here! Just like an English town. My working visa has all gone through so I have spent my 4 days here doing free things like going to museums, chilling in the botanical gardens and looking around. I'm looking forward to travelling New Zealand properly next year hopefully.
Can't wait to get back to Sydney on Thursday and next jobs to do are sorting my job and finding a flat to live in........
