Wow things have certainly changed in the last few weeks! The Deninsons are now of germanic/lithuanian extraction, you two work for the Lonely Planet Guide and Rik has an outdoor bathroom. Best of all Niall has entered his 40th year and loves to be reminded of the fact so dont forget to do that on a regular basis when you come back!
Enjoying the wonderful photos, everywhere looks so beautiful. Looking forward to hearing all the stories.
Take care.

The Travel Bums
Yes family Deninson we have learnt a few things about improved sanitation systems and hopefully when we get home Rik will complete a 5 day course in Asian plumbing and sometime before the Olympics arrive in London we may have a new bathroom and we'll plant daffodils in the toilet and put it in the "neighböurs garden! Miss you all - just leaving Phnom Penh this afternoon and heading to Siem Reap. Will update blog in next couple of days. xxx

Gutten Tag
Having been following your "journey", its incredible to think that you have travelled half way around the world, been introduced to new cultures and tribes with such different ways of life to our own but the natives still manage to have muh superior and advance toilet facilities than those in No.28!!
Waiting In Phuket...

The Gubu's Buddy Karen
Hello again,I say again cos this is my second attempt at sending this I even managed to solve the sum and then when I went back to finish my mini masterpiece, the screen was blank and I couldn't find me. I was trying to do this at work andI was being constantly interupted. Anyway I just wanted to add my name to the message board and to let you know i'm following you on this marvelous journey.Unfortunately, my original copy was full of wit and interesting topics but as it's nearly 9pm I'm past my best. I will continue to travel with you and I hope this message finds you well. (or even finds you). Take care. love karenx
Zoe
hey honey!
great to read all about your exploits; photos are fab!
so, what's been going on here? well, i'm back at work - really enjoying it actually, great to catch up with so many people - doesn't feel like i've been away at all! there are still plenty of loonies in middlesbrough who require my services - maybe i should make that 'help' - i'm not that kinda girl!
iona is having a ball with mum. mum keeps telling me she's a little treasure - do you think she plans to bury her in the garden?! mum is part way through her childminder registration and might be starting to collect ellie (guitan/julie) from school now and again, just to keep to the rules/regulations of ofsted. dad is now self employed, but staying at hartlepool power station - now earning an obscene amount of money - he could lend you a tenner for more tiger beer if you get stuck or up your health insurance in case of more tumbles - be careful! no news yet re: mark and louise - will keep you posted; but both are well.
cav is fine and well - might be heading back to china next month. council have approved the first stage of planning permission for us to build a house next door (in garden). the next stage is to sweet talk the chap from highways re: access - fingers crossed (and baps out!)
well, will close here, take care, catch up soon xxx
Bodach
Ciamar a tha sibh , very well I hope.
Just a wee note to say how much I am enjoying following your trek and the photos are great they bring it all to life. I bet you've both acquired more bumps and bruises since the big bike tumble ( starring Anna Knievel ). Liked the story about you rescuing the sick squid that reminds me you're still owe me a tenner Rik ha ha (the old ones are the best). Are the midgies as bad as their Glen Quaich cousins Rik ,I dare say I'll see some that come back in your luggage, anyway take care of each other and enjoy every minute of you adventure and stay safe.
Sla'inte agus sonas. Love from Bodach, Dunkeld.

What's this about the Dennisons being German or Lithuanian? Can you tell mcp that the machines at the barrier of his car parks are too far away from my car as I've only got short arms.
The Everton Toffee Lady
Hi you two.
Just read you blog on Hanoi.Have you tried a moped yet Anna? It looks like a fall would be impossible even for you on one of them as there is no room in any direction other than up. I had a very big surprise on my 30th birthday last week (besides the cards which said Happy Birthday 60 years old) It was a large cardboard box delivered to the door the delivery man said it was something small and Italian. I eagerly ripped the box apart in expectation of finding Frankie Dettori and was amazed , but not too disappointed to find an olive tree. Molte grazie! It seems happy enough sitting in the middle of the room here looking wistfully at the snow falling outside and dreaming of Tuscan hillsides.Speaking of the Gee-Gees you missed the Grand National. We put a bet of for you. Of course I'm only telling you this because it failed to finish.Dad backed L'Ami in memory of 'you know who' but given the good lady's renowned leisurely gait and Dad's penchent for picking donkeys it failed to get over the first fence. What's all this about Students/Lithuanians/ bathrooms etc? When we were last round at your gaff the bath was in the garden. although Anna tried to tell us it was a barbecue.
Mcp
yo yo Anna and Rik,
Just been reading some of the stuff on here, just thought it was time i started adding some of my own. Here with Niall chilling with a few beers, wish you were here. students said your bathroom was cool, dont believe what the deninsons have said, they are not lithuanian but german,
And i insisted the goat stay out in the garden, like the beard but you look about 60 years old(quote from sean)
Bye for now!!!
The Teuchter
I came upon this site by chance while pursuing my researches, for which I am renowned throughout Auchenblae, on the Gubu. I fear that their are some serious misconceptions on the subject. As any of the lads in the bothy would tell you, when a Gubu enters hyperspace, an immediate sub-harmonic phase transition returns them whence they came. On occasion, however, a dimensional error occurs and, if the Gubu returns in more than 3.59 dimensions, he or she appears as a bugU, which is very scary indeed.
I do not understand the references to Ruby Wax. As anyone in the Mearns would tell you, the term is a colloquial corruption of rubbing wax. Until very recently, this was made in some quantity in Fettercairn. It is basically a mixture of candle ends and Everton Toffee, heated in boiling water until smooth. Superior versions used McCowans Coo toffee with rabbit purlies added to improve palatibility. It was widely used as an effective, if painful, depilatory, especially in preparation for the weekly hop in Kirriemuir. I think that its use as a violent purgative in braxy gimmers has now died out, as indeed have braxy gimmers.
The lads in the bothy really like your blog. Tam asks if you could pop into the Institute of Astrophysics in Saigon to ask Professor Y No Nau about her research into quasi-stellar gubus. They are all a bit disappointed about the lack of information on the bothies in Vietnam and would like some pictures of sheep. Auld Peem said lambs, but Erchie and Boab have taken him outside with a tin of ruby wax.
Keep on having fun and avoid the fragging.
The Gubu
so your first experience of Vietnam isn't all you had wished for? never mind, it seems the cruise has helped make up for the disappointment! I think, in many ways it's no bad thing to get a feel for the real life around you. The grass isn't always greener! I kind of like you on this side of the fence anyway. the weather was glorious again today. Iwas running and have really hurt my heel, i'm now like Hopalong Cassidy! or do i mean Butch Cassidy?....at least he had a horse....maybe Hop-a-long had a horse!....maybe Hop-a-long was a horse?....I've never had a horse!.....Maybe i mean long John Silver? he had a limp! or was it one leg?....well that would give him a limp! ....I don't think he had a horse though!.....I'm sure he had a ship.....Ive never had a ship!......it's an injustice!!.....I do however, have a limp!!!...I've to go now, they're coming to take me away ha haaaaaaaa. x x x
