Illinois really knew what they were doing when they built their capital as it was just stunning inside. The grounds were quite attractive but not extraordinary compared to the average of capitals. The Gerald R. Ford Library and Museum in Ann Arbor, MI was not very exciting as it was only the research library. As the story has it, Ford wanted all of his presidential materials to be left to the University of Michigan but his home town wanted his museum to be there so a compromise was reached where there is a small collection of museum materials at the library in Ann Arbor and the rest is in Grand Rapids, MI.
