We arrived to a very modern and new bus station. It was a 30 minute taxi ride ($10) from the hostel which was in between the old and the new town. The hostel was amazing, Casa Bambu, $20 for our own room with a bathroom and a v.comfy bed. It also had a massive roof terrace with amazing views, pool, table tennis and fusball table, 2 kitchens, a tv room!We went for dinner in the new town area of Maricolor (AKA Gringolandia) where we were met by trendy bars pumping out tunes, big tv screens with adverts on, modern restaurants and a young, western vibe.
The next day we went for a 4km walk to and around the old town.We went up to the bell tower in the cathedral to get great views and went to the bohemian area of Guapulo. We travelled around on the efficient metro bus system which cost 25c per ride and by 2pm we were back on the roof terrace for lunch and a few beers in the sun.Well we deserved them after walking for nearly 5hrs.After that we headed to Gringolandia to people watch over 2 4 1 cocktails.
