Up early again to get a bus to Vang Vien which only took 6 hours. I met Holly, Emily and Rex from Devon who i stayed with at Pans guest house. Vang Vien is very different from Luang Prabang its not pretty, its full of backpackers which means there's loads of bars and places showing Friends. We rented bikes for the day (to burn off some of the cakes) and went around the town and to the local market were i was tempted to buy the cooked rats on sticks for my lunch...

I left Chiang Mai at 8:30pm and arrived at the boarded at 2am where we stayed in a guest house for the rest of the night. We were up early the next morning and taken to the boarder to collect our visas $35. We crossed from Thailand to Laos on a long boat and boarded another boat which would take us to Luang Prabang.
