Yesterday was our last day in Kanchanaburi and I was booked to do the cooking class at Apple with Noi the most amazing teacher. We arrived in Kanchanaburi yesterday lunchtime and had trouble finding the Apple Retreat where we were staying. When we did find it, we found a beautiful setting with the restaurant overlooking the river Kwai and our accommodation clean and fresh. We spent yesterday and today chilling out in Ayutthaya, the old capital city of Thailand. I think it must be the low season because it is rather quiet here. On the first day we didn't do much as we were tired after the hustle and bustle of Bangkok. We stayed in a cute bungalow (more a shed) in a small garden, the owner is really helpful and friendly. Yesterday we went on our river tour and luckily had our own boat and guide. It was a long tail boat with a massive truck engine, so it was quite quick. The river was choppy because of the all the traffic making the boat rock and roll a lot. Once we headed onto the side canals it was much calmer as we went passed all the houses, with kids waving at us before diving into the water, I can't say I would like to follow looking at the colour of the water.
