Sorry there hasn't been a blog entry in a while, but we have been taking it easy and chilling out with walks along the beach and not much else. We arrived over two weeks ago and went to the Auckland Museum, learning about the Maori culture and way of life. We took the ferry across to Devonport an old town with beautiful weatherboard Victorian villas, so lots of photo taking. There is also two great hills/old volcanoes to climb up where you get great views of the town and also Auckland.
We are staying with a wonderful couple in Takapuna just outside Auckland, we are less than a minutes walk from the beach. A bit of a shame it is winter here really, but hopefully we will be here long enough to experience the spring and summer.
Tomorrow is where our adventures start we have hired a car and will heading off for over a week to explore the north island, going to see some relatives in Cambridge and then see how we go from there. Unfortunately because I am under 25 they won't insure me, so Pete is driving and I am navigator so who knows where we will end up, it could be Cambridge New Zealand, Cambridge America or even Cambridge England. We will keep you posted how the road trip goes and how many times Pete has to stop, because I have clearly got us lost.
We went to look at a flat yesterday in Auckland, just to see what there was available and oh dear it was not pretty. I don't think I could have lived there for a day let alone 6 months. Oh well we will see what happens and where we end up. Take care everyone and keep the messages coming, they have been severely lacking recently!!!!
