We arrived in Yangshuo after our epic 23 hour train ride (luckily we were not near the loo's this time) and a 1.5 hour bus ride, so we were keen for a hot shower and some good food. Our hotel is called Fawlty Towers, unfortunately no Manuel, but it is certainly an interesting place, with building work going on outsde so it feels like we are in Carry on Abroad. We hit the town about 8ish and it is really beautiful, we are surrounded by peaks and the place is full of bars and places to eat. We had a quick walk around and all booked in for a massage for the following evening, so we will let you know how that goes. Then we arrived at Lulu's bar (a former intrepid leader) so we were treated very well and have some local rice wine, very very strong. Obviously we had traditional Chinese food, Fajita's. Then we were introduced to a Chinese drinking game with dice and Pete felt rather tipsy after 2 beers and 3 shots, so we wandered back to Fawlty Towers about 11.50pm. That's right no more early nights for us unless we are on the train when the lights go out at 10.
We woke about 9 this morning and headed to Lulu's bar where I am sat now, after enjoying bacon, eggs, toast and English treat, which was rather nice. Although not the same without 5 biscuits to dunk in it. We are heading to the Li River this afternoon for Kayaking which should take about 2-3 hours, so the massage will truly be deserved.
We will let you know how it all goes, including our bike ride, Pete having Kung Fu lessons and us both having Chinese cooking lessons.
Hello to all those of you leaving messages for us, its fantastic to hear from you all, so a massive thank-you from us both:0)
And Mo, keep up the arsenal updates!!!
