We arrived at the seaside town of Sihanoukville around lunchtime, so after a well needed shower (in our windowless hotel room) we headed out to lunch at Grand Restaurant Kampuchea where they serve the best curries in coconuts. We decided to head to the beach and chill out for the rest of the afternoon. It was Josh's birthday today and that night we headed to the beach for dinner, where we had great food, balloons, sparklers and the best birthday cake so far.
The next day 10 of us (the rest were too hung over) went on a boat trip along the mangrove forest. It was such a calm morning, cruising along for over an hour, before we arrived at our destination. Because the water was so shallow we walked to the shore, it was great fun at first, but then we had to put our flip flops on as there were sharp shells in the sea bed, unfortunately mine broke because of the sticky mud. Our leader Komphak leant me his and luckily or embarrassingly they fitted. We had a 30 minute walk through the jungle to the beach where we could swim and chill out. The landscape was stunning, with mango and coconut trees, colourful houses and crisp blue sea. Once at the beach it was time to dive in the sea and start jumping the big wave. It was at this point where Pete whacked his foot against a rock. His second toe swelled up and he was in a bit of pain, so our walk back through the jungle was slow, Komphak found a large stick to help Pete, but clearly he was in pain, so once at the other beach we rested and out lunch was brought from the boat to us, before we made our walk back through the water to our boat.
Pete needed to rest his toe and so I went to the Grand Restaurant Kampuchea and had a yummy curry, obviously I couldn't leave Pete to starve back at the hotel room (the one with no window) so I asked for them to make a green curry and took it back to him, it was still served in a coconut.
23rd April.
In Phnom Penh we had found some frosties, not Kellogg's, but anything would. So this morning I headed to the local shop, got some milk and Pete and I had frosties for breakfast.
