I'm now in Vang Vieng and have been for the last 3 nights, took the 4 hours bus journey from Luang Prabang, which of course was nowhere near 4 hours and more like 7-8 hours...typical tour operators around here - they will tell you anything to get the sale! I love Vang Vieng, it is certainly the best most fun place I have visited on my travels so far. Went Tubing on the first day, as I have heard that it is amazing...well floating down the river on a big tube stopping off at bars along the way was brilliant. After a short tuk tuk ride to the river at about 11am, the mojitos in a bag were calling...start of an all day session I think! I was tubing for maybe 5 minutes max when the next bar appeare, which of course had to be tested out. This one had a really fun zip wire. So basically you just float down the river until the next bar comes along, most bars have a swing or zip wire into the river, which is fun especially when a little worse for wear! Yesterday was a beautiful day, so went tubing again...but today it has rained (first time I have seen it since leaving England), so I'm just going to chill out in one of the many Friends bars they have here. The nightlife here is excellent, everyone seems to end up in Smile Bar which has this Irish DJ that also DJs during the day at one of the Tubing Bars. Well tomorrow I'm off to Vientiane which is the capital of Laos. I have heard there is not much to do there, but I'll be staying overnight and I have a flight booked to Hanoi,Vietnam on the 1st Feb, on the loving Air Lao planes!
