We arrived in Sihanoukville, Cambodia about 1 week ago. Sihanoukville is on the west coast and is mainly a beach resort to chill out, although after 9pm the beach and the guesthouses turn into bars and the place livens up. We did so much in the first 2 weeks, that we both just wanting a place to top up the tan and relax and Sihanoukville is perfect. We spent the first night in this lovely wooden shack with bamboo leaf roofing, it was cheap and had character...everything was perfect - well until 7am in the morning when the building work right next to our room started!! Sar stormed out the room with fire in her eyes, I was thinking I feel sorry for the person on the end of what she had to say!! So we left that place and found another room, where we have stayed since then. We have been spending most of our days on Otres beach, which is the nicest beach around here as its quiet, less messy and has very few beggers and people trying to sell you things. We have been eating well, especially on the beach where we get fresh pineapple, mango, banana, papaya and dragon fruit all cut up and served by this 13year old girl called Tia, who is now Sars bestfriend - all for $1. In the evening's we have been eating in loads of the lovely restaurants here, mainly western food actually and then heading off to the bars around our hotel and then on to the beach bars which are great. Oh, I nearly forgot - the other night we had a big powercut in our resort and quite a few other buildings down the road...well it happened when Sar plugged her hairdryer in and turned it on, it was the exact same second...coincidence or what? We also visited the Snake House restaurant, which at first I thought just served snake on the menu - but unfortuently for me and lucky for Sarah it was not the cuisine that was snake it was just the surroundings that were covered in snakes. Look around whist eating and you can see Pythons, Cobras and loads of other creepy stuff. Well thats it for now, going to get some food and Angkor beer draft for 25p....its the life
