The 2015 Caravan of Courage is all packed and heading north. Team members are "Doc " and Jenny in the super deluxe Avan. Mr B and editor in the Jayco (mit working Fridge) and Caroline in the Bongo van ( mit new floor).
Caro was gifted the bongo van from her son. Mr B suggested he would not let his mum drive it to Darwin with 600,000 km on the clock. Son had a new floor (aluminum checker plate) put in and it was like walking on a Trampoline. So Brad put a new wooden floor over the top. He found out the lights didn't work so new fuses fixed that. Black door didn't lock, fixed that. Then the inside light didn't exist so a new light was installed. Then Caro decided it needed a little warmth so added some lino, Comment: did Brad realise the wheel arches are different on each side. So we hope cupboards will eventually cover the gaps. Sliding door has aproblem, the wheel to make it slide is missing so you have to lift and separate - simply, Caro can't open it. So I suggested we can let her out in the mornings. Leaving goolwa there was a spare wheel in the rear. Ikea flat pack single bed, on the floor for delivery to Darwin, then mattress on top of that. Multitude of cardboard boxes with breakfast lunch etc written on them. Caro started early (thursday) as she had some more work to be done to make it driveable - on the way. Brad purchased a snap strap yesterday just in case we have to tow this thing all the way to Darwin.
Our van is not much better as we are delivery agents for Dave's (adopted son) inheritance from his mum. Under my bed is a multitude of Nappy boxes filled with his stuff. We are also packing a gun case behind the front seat of the cruiser. It doesn't fit under the bed. No gun inside as that's illegal so we have an assortment of bits and pieces that don't quite make up a gun. Amazing what we do for the family.
Haven't enquired as to what is in the Avan. It's sitting low on the road. Doc has the back of the cruiser chock ablock (needs his wing mirrors to see out the back) with tool box that resembles a coffin. (maybe his mother in law is inside) 60litre fridge, firewood, (not sure why as beside the highway is covered in it) generator, etc (Brad's jealous of the toolbox) Brad's comment: can't believe the amount of crap they take. However we do make use of it al at times.
