Soo much to update - i think its about 5 days since i've been online :) After a brief stop back inNairobi we headed to the serengeti - def the Africa of dreams watching the sunset over the acacia trees with a family of elephants chomping their way past us. We had two nights in the park - really basic with our own tents, the first night was terryfying - after talking to a guy who was stuck there waitinmg for a relacement truck who infmed me he had spent the night in the toilet the night before as he had been to the loo and come out to find a lion walking round teh cubicles - luckily he waited till morning and it lost interest but obv i didnt get a god nights sleep after that!!! very weird feeling to have wild (big scary) animals plodding round your taurpalin tent!!! The next night we moved camp to the ngorogoro crater - had a great night and i made a load of new friends - the local cooks who i sat up in the cooking quarters with listening to music and playing cards with till late where great fun and they are still contacting me now to find out all about my trip! (and before you all laugh - yes one (William) was particularly nice lol lol and may be meeting up with me later ;) ....) .... so after a night on the Konyagi (local fire water) i was escoretd like a princess to my tent my an armed guard who pointed out the wild bush pigs all round the camp ..... suffice to say didnt sleep that night either as i could hear them stomping round my tent and they even started to knock it down at one point.
The next two days where heavy driving days - its hitting home how much area we are covereing and its non stop pitching tents, cooking, seeing the sights, animals and meeting people - pretty heavy duty. after a night in Dar es Salaam we are now on Zanzibar. Stone town yesterday and this morning - its a lovely very muslim town with windfing allies, smells and spices then we hit the beach for this afternoon and tomorrow - def well earned rest and i am SO looking for ward to it!!!
ahh my time is running out but i will need to update with my sepnd a penny story later .... def a classic which is why i am going to be remebered by my fellow travellers. Speak soon xx
ok so the english phrase - spend a penny .... well I had a sqat toilet disaster ..... was in a hurry (you can imagine) and got myself into a predicament with no loo roll .... i surveyed the room and there was NOTHING to use ....but i had my wallet .... suffice to say at 15,000 shillings it was the most expensive crap I have ever had :)
