Today I woke up at 4:45 AM to go to the Taj Mahal and see it in sunrise. It was REALLY, REALLY early but it was worth it. The Taj Mahal was so beautiful. Before I tell you more about what the Taj Mahal looked like I am going to tell you why it was built. The Taj Mahal is a tomb for Mumtaz Mahal the emperor Shah Jahan's wife (one of them) that died when she was 39. She died giving birth to her 14th child, who died also. The king loved his queen so much that he was in despair after she died and he put other people in charge. Before the queen died she told the emperor 3 things. The first thing was that for as long as he lives he will not marry another person in his life, and he never did. The 2nd thing she said was that he has to be kind and take care of her and his children, and he did. The last thing his wife asked was for him to keep her close to his heart always, and he did. He did it by building a huge tomb for his wife called the Taj Mahal. The Taj Mahal is a very special tomb because it was made out of love and it is the most unique tomb in the world. After 22 years of building the Taj Mahal the emperor was looking at the Taj Mahal and thought he saw his wife. That night the emperor's son took over and imprisoned the emperor. His prison was not bars, it was his palace. The only thing bad for him was that he was not allowed to go out side of his palace grounds. After 8 years of prison the emperor died at 71 looking at the Taj Mahal. That is why the Taj Mahal was built. The emperor's body was put inside the Taj Mahal with his queen even though he did not want this. He wanted the Taj Mahal to only be for the queen and then he was going to build a black Taj Mahal across from the other one. Sadly he died and the black Taj Mahal never got finished. The Taj Mahal is made out of marble with carvings of stone inlaid right into the marble. The craftsmen in Agra today are the family of those who did the Taj. When you walk under the gate and to where you can see the Taj Mahal it is just incredible. There is a fountain and gardens then the Taj Mahal is right in back of all of it. It is made of almost see through white stone. Seeing the Taj Mahal just made my day and I think it will make yours also when you see the pictures.
Thank you and please comment.
