As we come to the end of our holiday, a recap on my thoughts. Love the Padma resort Legian Bali . The resort is twenty years old and beautifully maintained , ..gorgeous established gardens , lots of staff. Our Garden Club chalet , a fancy name for a very comfortable room on the first floor in a block of four over looking the gardens.
Several hundred rooms at the resort , but the feeling is of a spacious surrounding and very relaxed and layback atmosphere.
Two pools and lot of spots to sit in the sun or shade in your own Bali hut. Staff waiting to bring what every you want at the fall of a flag on your side table .
A bonus is access to the Garden Club Lounge where every afternoon between 5 - 7 there are free drinks , cocktails , spirits and beer . Some evening we were too full with savories and cocktails to have any dinner.
The resort too beautiful to leave. We did venture out for some shopping.
The bartering and begging is an experience - we did prefer the shopping at the Discovery Mall . Handbags and Puma shoes - not copies - at good prices .
Not being very good tourists , a minimum of sight seeing . A driver for the day for $40 .
A drive past the jail where Shapelle Corby resides , the Memorial of the Bali Bombing ( the locals call it ground zero ), lunch on a beach eating fresh selected and barbecued lobster .
We am sure we will return to Bali , and at this point would only stay at the Padma .
The rubbish is a disappointment , as is the state of the roads and the footpaths.
A really good holiday and a big thanks to Dom Lopez from STA travel .
We didn't know what to expect and have had a excellent holiday .
