Rio Scenario -possibly one of the coolest places I have ever been. In central Rio de Janeiro in the lapa area. The street was cordoned off and was alive with people in bars either side. Over four floors it can take up to 1000 people and I think they must've been nearly 1000 people in last night. Several different samba bands played throughout the night and because there was a big open hole in between each floor you could look down on the band and listen to the music and watch everybody samba dance on every level. The walls had prams on them, old carriages were in the halls, and old American style 1930s car was on one floor and all the waiters went round with stylish caps That Are Similar to the Geordie Cloth cap. The atmosphere was electric, we got some nibbles and food was great, the drink prices were very reasonable as was the entry fee.
At one stage one of the bands had everybody on every floor up samba dancing and the whole place vibrated. There was an old style wooden lift to take you from floor to floor if you wished and there was a whole separate room when different style bands played if you wanted to listen to them instead. full of unique items, bric-a-brac and all sorts of weird and wonderful things you could sit and look at all over the walls floors ,toilets and everywhere you looked.
there was a samba school instructor on our floor teaching some businessmen how to dance right in front of our table it was amazing to watch.
A brilliant night we ended getting in about 1:30 AM.
Vanya our guide even turned up on her night off ,got us to the front of the queue by booking us a table , so we had our own private table and it saved us queueing for at least 90 minutes to get in. She was an absolute star and has been fantastic.
What a brilliant night!.
