Peter and Caroline's Most Excellent Adventure!!!
Hola mes Amigo's
We are now in Chile and it is bloody hot, they said don't worry, it will be nice and cool when yoiu get there, WRONG WRONG WRONG WRONG WRONG, there are people here and they are wearing suits and jumpers because to them it is cool but to us Brits this is HOT!
Most of our sight seeing was done at night so it was a little cooler, but not much.
Chile is full of people who, as soon as they hear you speak in English, can't resist coming over to say hello. It's like they want to practice their English. Very friendly and very nice, except for one. You know who you are you sneaky little taxi driver you! If you get a taxi make sure you know the cost of your journey before you set off. Straight off the plane we were caught with massive jet lag and ended up paying more than double the price to our hotel, live and learn. Apart from that one blip the people are lovely.
We arrived in Santiago and are only here for a few days acclimatising and preparing for our tour. We went to an old spanish fortress built on Mount saint Lucia, spent to many hours and too many Pesso in the markets, and generally wandered all over the place.
The bars are pretty lively but the town is built in a long strip, like chile itself, so getting back to your hotel can be a bit of a trek. Try the local drink, Pisco Saur, tastes just like a lemonade alcopop and goes down far to easilly!
Next stop, Easter Island!
