Here we are nearly at the end of our little holiday and what a way to finish, a week in the tropical paradise of St. Lucia. Fantastic weather, amazing beaches, really friendly locals, this place has it all. Tourism is a major source of money to the island and they make you feel at home straight away.
We stayed at the north of the island in Gros Islet. The Glencastle resort and hotel way right next to the bay and marina and the main tourist and shopping on the island in Rodney bay. The food was great, the weather spot on. We basically spent a week in the pool, the sea or on the beach. The only sight seeing we did was to the nature reserves and hot springs. The diamond waterfall was beautiful as was the nature trail through the estate. Castries is a bit nerveracking and so are the buses but not as bad as south America!
After all our travels we were lucky to come here last because if there is anywhere to relax and prepare yourself for the reall world this is it. You can get a boat across to Martinique, there are always events and outdoor concerts. The fishing village Dennery has a party every friday with the whole village turning out, the cruise ships fill the Harbour in Castries every other day and yet you still fell as if you are in somewhere unspoilt. All the beaches are open to anyone and all of them offer things to do. To be honest we didn't do as much as we should and nowhere near as much as we could have, but, if you want to run around all day you can and never run out of things to do. We just wanted to chill on the beach, and that's exactly what we did!
St. Lucia is a beautiful island but now it is time to go back home. England......here we come!
