Today we woke early to hire bikes for the day. It was €15 and we had them till 7pm. We strapped our bags to our bike and then rode along the promenade. After 5 minutes of riding Clint had a flat tyre, so we had to ride back to get it pumped up. Now we were set for the day, well that's what we thought. After Clint got back we rode another 10 minutes and realised that we forgot to get chains to lock our bikes up once we got to the beach so I rode back and got chains for us. Now we were set for the day. The ride to the beach took us just over three hours. The ride was pretty easy but it was hot and we were riding against the wind. We rode all along the coast line and through a rich marina, we stopped and had lunch here whilst looking at all the expensive boats. We continued our ride along the coastline, then the highway, then through the busy streets of a town before we finally reached the beach and it had sand not rocks. We all went straight in for a swim and the water was so refreshing after riding and sweating for so long. We stayed for about an hour and then needed to head back to get the bikes back on time. The ride home was hard, we were starving, had throbbing headaches from the heat and our legs and bums were sore. We couldn't wait to see our rock beach and familiar things that were close to where we were staying. It was a relief handing the bikes back in but the views that we saw along the way were well worth the pain. We rode approximately 50kms. After that we went to a cafe and I got a big slice of really cold watermelon. We decide to have an early dinner at one of the restaurants at the markets and then a couple of cocktails before heading home. I spoke to Craig on skype chat for a few hours then went to bed. We check out tomorrow at 10:30 and then head to Venice for four nights. Photo is of me on my hire bike on the promenade before we left for the day.
