2 Hours before he race so this will be a quick one. Yesterday was one of getting familiar with the way to the race and a bit of quick sightseeing. Waked to the race package pickup and the line up was about 4 blocks long. Apparently there are over 11,000 participants. The race package was pretty good and we received a shirt from the international fun run in the morning. Traded a shirt for a Leukemia group one and also got a Miller Lite Cap (awful looking one at that). It was kind of like dueling diseases there. Diabetes meet Leukemia, Heart and Lung meet Irritable Bowel syndrome. Most people there seemed to be part of a fundraising team. Met a couple from England who are doing the marathon for the umpteenth time. She will be kicking my ass today.
Yesterday we did a Hop On - Hop Off tour and saw the sites of Dublin. If we have time on Tuesday we may do it again and get off at a few more places. We did manage to stop at Guinness and do the tour, buy some merchandise and see probably the best view of Dublin you could get from the top of the observatory tower. Awesome. Remove the cars and you feel like you are in a place from 200 years ago. Got pictures of the view that I'll post when I get back. We watched Michael Collins before we left and managed to see a lot (from the top of a bus) of places that are important to the 1916 Rebellion. Hopefully get to explore these further.
Apparently there is a North Dublin/South Dublin cultural divide here (kind of like Regina) where the North thinks the south is snobby and the south thinks the north are a bit boarish. (Kind of like Regina) . There is a saying here that if a south girl marries a north man, its probably to get her handbag back!
