This is one update that I am more than pleased to put into words and from reading my last blog entry you will know the reason why.
On the 22nd of July I went into hospital to have a third of my large bowel removed and after a successful operation I am pleased to say the results could not be better! My bowel now needs time to settle down to it’s new routine and that can take months apparently but I’m just so glad that I didn’t wake up from the op with the dreaded bag. The other really good news is that I do not need chemotherapy which I was told a few days after the op but was happy having it confirmed at my six week follow up appointment. I have been so lucky having this cancer found when it was and now I will need regular colonoscopies and CT scans for the next five years but no other follow up treatment.
Apart from the shock of hearing I had a cancerous lump I can only say my whole experience couldn’t have been better. All the treatments, advise and attention I received through the whole process has been great. So it’s a big THANK YOU to everyone involved from the surgeons to the admin staff and the doctors and nurses at Tweed hospital, even the cleaning and catering staff. They all need a mention for their caring and professional attitudes. I am so grateful to everyone involved. I also need to thank my darling husband Chris here who has been beside me through this journey. He has been a great support and strength to me, looking after me so well and keeping me well fed with all the right foods. Thank you, thank you, thank you to you all.
I’ll leave this entry here as my A-Z journey has ended now and when all these Covid lockdowns have finished we can get back on the road again and we can’t wait. Hopefully my next entry will see of us back out there again. Stay safe everyone and appreciate what you have. Life is good but it can all change in the blink of an eye!
